Sanibona, Molweni, Dumelang, Goeie Dag and Welcome, to the 11th INSME Annual Meeting!
It is with real pleasure that I’d like to welcome you to Cape Town, South Africa – and in general to Africa as it is the first time that our members unite in this beautiful continent. I am convinced that the inspiring opportunities, the amazing hospitality and the vibrant business environment together with its colourful nature will be even beyond our expectations!
Nelson Mandela stated: “I believe that South Africa is the most beautiful place on earth. Admittedly, I am biased but when you combine the natural beauty of sunny South Africa with the friendliness and cultural diversity of our people, and the fact that the region is a haven for Africa’s most splendid wildlife, then I think that we have been blessed with a truly wonderful land.”
From the cradle of humankind to the celebrated birthplace of a new democracy, South Africa embodies warmth, creativity and possibility.
We are particularly pleased to join our South African colleagues as they celebrate 20 years since the March 1995 release of the country’s White Paper on small business promotion strategy by former president Nelson Mandela’s Government. As South Africa marks this important milestone, and recalls Mandela’s 1995 President’s Conference on Small Business, INSME is proud to gather its members in the breathtakingly beautiful city of Cape Town and showcase part of the country’s innovation environment. We truly look forward to a rich Conference Programme with globally-renowned experts and leaders sharing their knowledge with INSME’s local and international stakeholders to contribute – step by step – to forging a more sustainable ecosystem to achieve and foster inclusive growth – the theme of this year’s Annual Meeting.
A diversified programme of networking activities including the “INSME Meet with Speed” as well as the already well-established International Expert Training session in combination with the interactive Innovation Tour to some of South Africa’s and Cape Town’s celebrated SME innovation institutions such as Bandwidth Barn, will facilitate the creation of further synergies and collaboration among the 95+ member organizations and highlight once more the depth and dynamism of our growing global network.
An unquestionable added value will be the opportunity for conference attendees to discuss and find solutions to global challenges through members’ expertise by combining the ambitious work on technology and knowledge transfer towards SMEs with an enjoyable atmosphere marked by fruitful intercultural communication based on trust and friendship.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Cape Town!
11 Years of INSME: great then – better now – thanks to you!!!
INSME Secretary General
